HERE'S HOW TO ENTER
A. Singers that have not entered previous contests here on kissdetroit.com must register before making their submissions.
B. Singers upload a video of their acapella versions of “One Last Cry” by Brian McKnight OR “Sweet Thing” by Chaka Khan (most recently covered by Mary J. Blige) using the submissions page.
Lyrics for both songs can be found on these links:
C. All video submissions must be recieved by July 22nd, 2011.
CONTEST TIMELINE:
July 22
Submission deadline is July 22. On July 22, 10 entries will be selected to compete at a local talent showcase.
July 23 - August 19
Opening Act Showcases
The top 10 acts will perform for the Open Act local talent showcase. Singers will perform one of the mandated songs (One Last Cry OR Sweet Thing) with karaoke instrumental backing & one ORIGINAL song. Local judges will choose 1 winner to receive $5,000 and open for Jill Scott and Anthony Hamilton at Budweiser Superfest Presents Jill Scott's Summer Block Party.
August 29 - September 6
National voting begins on www.myspace.com/budweiseropeningact with the top 13 Opening Act winners from each city competing for the national title and $25,000!
